Khewat

Digitization of revenue and land records in India

From 1988–1989, the Central Government of India launched the Computerization of Land Records scheme, which digitized all land records in an effort to bring transparency to the country’s land record system. Other procedures were put in place at the same time to enhance land administration and records. As part of the Digital India effort, the National Land Records Modernization Programme (NLRMP), formerly known as the National Land Records Modernization Project (NLRMP), was combined with all of these records in 2008.
